An artisanal process
Food Crayon are handmade, in small batches in the kitchen of our manufacturing workshop located in the South-West of Montreal, facing the Lachine Canal. It is an artisanal process during which we mix natural ingredients: infusions, spices, vegetable juices and fruit purees. After heating them to the right temperature, we add agar-agar, a vegan gelling agent extracted from seaweed to give them the desired texture. The salt and cider apple vinegar in the recipe allow a natural preservation of 12 months.

How to store Food Crayons?
Food Crayon has a 12 months shelf life. The date is written on every label. You can store them at a room temperature, in a dry and cool place. Once open, you can place them in your fridge to prolong their flavours.
How many shavings?
There is 120 shavings in 1 Food Crayon. 5 to 10 shavings on a dish. 1 to 2 shavings on a one bite size recipe or a cocktail.
Food Crayon are GMO free !
All ingredients used in the 24 recipes are 100% natural, GMO-free, artificial colors and preservatives free. It's simply vegetable juices, fruit purees, essential oils or pepper pulps. We add cider vinegar and salt for 12 month conservation. And it is agar-agar, a gelling agent extracted from algae that gives the texture and shape to the Crayons.
